We offer placenta encapsulation, smoothies, tinctures, salves, placenta art on canvas and planters, and even can help you with your spiritual, religious, or personal non-consumable placenta preferences. We want women to have a happy postpartum and there are thought to be many healing benefits to consuming the placenta. New mothers have reported that they believe the following:
Lessen the risk of postpartum depression
Increase milk production
Decrease postpartum bleeding
Balance out hormones
Help with pain relief
We strive to help moms make the most out of their postpartum experience so they have an easier time transitioning into motherhood. We do all of the legwork for you so you can focus on what’s important- your new baby! We come up to the hospital, birth center, or home to pick up your placenta for you. We clean, prepare, and encapsulate your placenta in a sterilized area. Once the pills are complete we will bring them to you either at your home or the hospital. Please contact us for a free consultation or to answer any questions!
When should I contact you to arrange for you to encapsulate my placenta?
Whenever you would like! You can let me know the day you get pregnant all the way up to the day you deliver! The earlier the better, as it helps things run smoothly with the hospital and your doctor knowing your plans to have your placenta encapsulated. If doing a home birth, it helps me plan my driving schedule.
How does the whole process work?
We will do a prenatal meet and greet (either in person or over the phone) and go over any questions you have. After you decide which services you want, I will collect a $50 deposit from you, full payment and copy of lab work is due by 36 weeks of pregnancy. Finances is the last thing we want you thinking about when your little one begins his or her arrival. Once in labor, text us, have your cooler and two gallon size zip lock bags with you. Once you deliver, we will come to your home or hospital to get your placenta and then we will do the rest! We will clean, prepare, dehydrate, and encapsulate the pills for you. We deliver them personally to your location within 48 hours.
What is the proper care and handling for encapsulation?
As quickly as possible after the birth (at least within the first two hours after birth), the placenta should be placed into a food-grade container, sealed tightly, and refrigerated or placed on ice. If giving birth in the hospital, we recommend bringing a tupperware and cooler with you so that you can easily keep your placenta cold and not have to worry about it- although most hospitals provide the container and will give you ice. You can purchase a disposable styrofoam cooler, or use any regular small cooler, but not a soft sided cooler. It must be hard sided. If not disposable, your cooler will be sterilized and returned to you with your pills.
How should I notify you to come pick up the placenta?
If possible, texting us at the beginning of labor is helpful. If you hire a doula with Havenly Birth, the doula will be in contact with Allison who encapsulates our placentas. This allows time to plan and schedule picking up and dropping off the placenta. Once you give birth, please text again so we can arrive within 12 hours. If birth occurs between the hours of 8pm and 8am, simply place the placenta on ice in your cooler (if at a hospital, they can provide ice), send us a text, and we will come get it in the morning.
How do you do the encapsulation?
Allison uses her own set of high quality equipment and only encapsulates one placenta at a time to ensure the highest safety standards. The supplies used during the placenta encapsulation process are all stainless steel, food grade plastic, or disposable. Everything is thoroughly washed with soap and hot water, sanitized in bleach solution, and all stainless steel tools are heat sanitized in addition to the bleach treatment. Following the same guidelines for cleanliness and sanitation that are used in food service establishments and small laboratories. Allison has completed a blood borne pathogens course through Biologix which is OSHA certified and specifically designed for placenta encapsulation specialists to ensure your placenta will be prepared in a safe and sanitary manner.
OK! I’m ready to do this – what’s the next step?
Email: Hello@HavenlyBirth.com and Libby will get you the paperwork and in touch with Allison. If you have any remaining questions, feel free to ask. Depending on what you prefer, we will either meet or talk on the phone. Libby will send you a contract, information form, and invoice for your $50 deposit payment. Full payment is due by 36 weeks pregnant, so if you are past this point full payment will be due or we can set up a personalized payment plan. Then we wait to hear that you are in labor and have given birth!

Traditional Method Placenta Encapsulation $250
The Traditional method is a modified TCM (Traditional Chinese Method) and involves cleaning the placenta, gently steaming the placenta with lemon, cayenne pepper, and fresh ginger, then dehydrating the placenta before it is put into capsules. Using this preparation is thought to bring out the placenta's healing and toning properties. Many this method is great for energy and stamina.
Add Broth $10
The placenta broth is prepared using the Traditional Method of steaming with medicinal herbs. In China, the broth is reserved and strained following the steaming process and ingested by the mothers in addition to the encapsulated placenta. You can drink the broth on its own, add it to drinks like teas or smoothies or food such as soups or chili. 1 part broth, 2 parts water and a fair amount of honey make an awesome invigorating tea. It will taste of lemon and ginger.
(**)Raw Method Placenta Encapsulation $250
The RAW method of preparation skips the heating and herbal process altogether. Raw food activists believe that steaming the placenta destroys some of the essential nutrients. Using this option provides a burst of energy upfront and great hormone stabilization. This method yields more pills and many believe it is great for boosting milk supply.

Can’t decide which one you would like? Enjoy the benefits of both!
