Where your Mind Goes; Your Body will Follow
How many of you have ever attempted a 5K? Did you finish? What were your thoughts like when you started training? Did your mind try to play tricks on you, telling you you can't do this? If you are anything like me, I must intentionally take my thoughts captive and direct them to the finish line. Changing my self-doubt, no way mentality into a you can do this, keep those legs moving victory chant.
Our internal dialogue dictates much of how we live; our thoughts become our actions. From running to pregnancy, birth, and babies- the thoughts we choose to take captive, meditate on, and repeat to ourselves can either help us or break us.
In my childbirth classes and doula work we talk in depth about our mentality. Our thoughts. The fears that try to creep in while we are carrying our babies within our wombs; the "what ifs" that can happen during labor and birth; those scary birth stories we've heard trying to take root... I've been there... I have wrestled them first hand. The good news is, we can battle those fears with truth. The kind of truth that is everlasting and does not change. Truth from the very one that created our bodies and this beautiful process of pregnancy, birth, and becoming mamas.
"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV
Before you were born, I knew you : Praying for your pregnancy, birth, and baby. Written by Phylicia D. Masonheimer is a great resource, a free resource, to point you to the truths that will shape your internal dialogue to one of belief, trust, and freedom as you walk into motherhood.
Where your mind goes, your body will follow.
